New Air Conditioning Units and Electrical work for to be placed in offices at the Louis Armstrong School.. Although the Mayor's Office had placed air conditioners in all classrooms, they did not allow for repairs or replacements when they break down. Many air conditioners have broken down and need repair. IS 227 is a 4 story building, the top floors are without air conditioning have exceeded 100 degrees on hot days. In addition, our School Counselors, Social Workers and Nurses Office desperately need air conditioning to serve their students. $2.2M for the PET for Nuclear Medicine NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst has incredibly busy volume and demand for our x-ray and radiation oncology services. In 2024, we provided over 91,518 x rays and over 194,000 diagnostic tests, 5% higher than the previous year. Elmhurst currently lacks PET scan technology and we now have to transfer patients to our sister hospital, NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens, in order to receive this critical care. PET/CT scans provide advanced imagery that serves as an effective way to help discover a variety of conditions, including cancer, heart disease and brain disorders. With PET/CT scans, our healthcare providers can make more accurate diagnoses and treatment plans, leading to better outcomes. PET/CT scans are also less invasive and more comfortable for patients. We expect to do 500 procedures in year 1 after acquiring the equipment and ramp up to additional capacity of 1,000 patients a year in year 2.

We previously received $5.88 M in City Council, NYS, and BP funding for this project.
